The Excellence Awards recognise, celebrate and reward excellent performance in our core areas of research, teaching and service.
Nominations typically open in March, with the Awards Event scheduled for August. Nomination forms will be published on this page as soon as they are available, so please check back for updates.

Distinguished Contribution Award
One Distinguished Contribution Award is available per annum. The purpose of the award is to recognise a specific contribution to the Business School.

Professional Staff Excellence Awards
The Professional Staff Excellence Awards recognise the demonstration of, commitment to, or excellence related to any University value. Our values - respect and integrity, excellence and service, are detailed in Tāraitia Waka | Shaping Futures, the University of Auckland Business School Strategic Plan 2023 – 2025. Nominations that showcase multiple values and principles are strongly encouraged and will be favoured by the selection committee.

Research Excellence Awards
The Business School may award up to seven Research Excellence Awards per annum in one or all of the appropriate categories. These awards relate to research conducted, and contributions made, while employed at the University of Auckland Business School.

Teaching Excellence Awards
The Business School may award up to six Teaching Excellence Awards per annum in one or all of the appropriate categories below. These awards relate to teaching conducted, and contributions made, while employed at the University of Auckland Business School.

Academic Citizenship and Service Contribution
One Academic Service Contribution Award is available per annum. The award recognises exceptional academic citizenship, service and/or leadership by a member of the academic staff and will be made in recognition of an outstanding contribution to, and/or achievement in, the nominee’s department, school or the University.

External Engagement Excellence Awards
Successful external engagement is integral to being a relevant and impactful Business School and being well-regarded by external stakeholders. The importance of external engagement and having a positive impact on society is also anchored in the University’s strategic plan, Taumata Teitei. Against this background, the Business School seeks to recognise excellence in this field.

Te Tohu o Te Toroa Hihiri | The Toroa Hihiri Award
This award recognises exceptional service, leadership, and/or organisational citizenship by a member of the academic or professional staff and will be made in recognition of an outstanding contribution to, and/or achievement in relation to Te Ao Māori.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Award
This award recognises exceptional service, leadership, and/or organisational citizenship by a member of the academic or professional staff and will be made in recognition of an outstanding contribution to, and/or achievement in relation to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

Fetu’u Moana Award
This award recognises exceptional service, leadership, and/or organisational citizenship by a member of the academic or professional staff and will be made in recognition of an outstanding contribution to, and/or achievement in relation to Pacific success and impact.

Health, Safety and Wellbeing Excellence Award
The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Excellence Award is open to professional and academic staff members either individually or as part of a team/group. The award recognised exemplary contributions to, or leadership of, health, safety and wellbeing for staff, students, stakeholders, or community.
