Gut Bugs Trial
If you are concerned about your health and weight and you are aged 14 to 18 years, you may be interested in trying out a new safe treatment.
What does the study involve?
It is all very simple:
- Gut bugs (these are found in our intestines) will be collected from slim and fit teenagers and made into a treatment that you will take once in our research clinic.
- We will follow you up for a few months to check on your weight and health.
Does the treatment work?
We do not know for sure that this simple treatment will work, but we think it might. It has been shown to cause great weight loss in overweight mice. If it works, keeping the weight off will probably take some lifestyle changes, which we can also help you with.
What does it cost?
It will not cost you anything to participate. In fact, we will pay for your costs to come to our clinic at the University of Auckland.
How can I find out more about the study?
If you are seriously concerned about your weight and you are interested in participating in our study, please email your first name, age, sex, height and weight to us on firstname.lastname@example.org with "Gut Bugs Trial" as the subject.
If you prefer to use your mobile instead, you can text "Gut Bugs Trial" and your first name, age, sex, height, and weight to 027 571 5265. We will get back to you within a couple of days.
