Summer stays

Visitors to Auckland, interns, and students from any University in New Zealand or overseas are welcome to stay in our University residences over summer.

Special rates apply from the end of the academic year residential period until the last day of the Summer School exams. Check the dates for each residence, as they differ.

Carlaw Park Student Village

Carlaw park student village

This award-winning building is adjacent to the Auckland Domain and only a short walk from the shopping precinct of Parnell, Vector Arena, Downtown Auckland and the City Campus. Summer guests have access to communal facilities including a kitchen, lounge, sundeck, barbecue area, games room and study.

Availability

December 2017 - January 2018

Rooms

  • You'll stay in a single bedroom, in a fully-furnished three or four bedroom apartment.
  • Each apartment has a bathroom with a dual vanity and shower and separate lockable toilet.
  • Summer room rate
    • Single room: $215 per week
      (in a shared 3/4 bedroom apartment)

Note: you’ll need to supply your own linen and towels.

Catering

  • Each apartment is furnished with a galley-style kitchen equipped with a fridge, microwave, oven and kettle. A basic kitchen pack is provided.
  • A large communal kitchen is available for group events.

Facilities

  • Each apartment has a furnished lounge. Guests can also enjoy the use of the large communal lounge, study, games room and barbecue area.
  • There is a large laundry behind reception.

Parking

  • Very limited parking is available in the basement car park at an additional cost.
  • Wilson's car park is nearby.

Booking

You can book to stay at Carlaw Park Student Village if you’re a New Zealand or international student here for study, work or holiday purposes.

To enjoy our special discounted rate, you’ll need to book for a minimum of 14 nights, and pay two-weeks’ deposit.

Huia Residence

Huia Residence (part of the Grafton Campus) is close to the Auckland Domain and Wintergarden, Auckland War Memorial Museum, and only a short walk from the City Campus and bus routes.

Availability

Late November 2017 - Mid February 2018

Rooms

  • You'll stay in a comfortable, fully-furnished single room with a small personal refrigerator. There is ample storage space.
  • A linen pack with sheets, pillow and pillow case, duvet inner and cover, is included in the $100 room deposit. It must be returned clean at the end of your stay.
  • One male and one female bathroom on each level offer lockable showers and toilets.
  • Summer room rate
    • Single room: $180 per week

Catering

  • There is no meal plan option over summer.
  • Each bedroom comes with a small refrigerator.
  • You can prepare your meals using the communal kitchens located on each floor, or in the large communal kitchen on the ground floor. You have to provide your own cutlery, crockery, and equipment.
  • Kitchens close at 11pm every night. The ground floor kitchen is available 24 hours a day.
  • There is a small kitchenette next to the common rooms with tea and coffee making facilities which is available 24 hours a day.

Facilities

  • Each common room has a TV with Sky, free-to-air channels, and a DVD player.
  • The ground floor communal lounge offers a big screen television, pool table, foosball and table tennis. 
  • There are two pianos in the music room and on the ground floor communal space. 
  • Barbecue facilities are provided in the outdoor patio area.
  • Token operated washers and dryers are on each floor, along with ironing facilities. Tokens can be purchased from reception.

Parking

  • Limited parking is available at an additional cost.

Booking

You can book Huia Residence if you are a New Zealand or international student staying in Auckland for study, work or holiday purposes. To enjoy our discounted rate, you will need to book for a minimum of 14 nights.

Room deposit and cleaning fee
A $100 room deposit and a $50 cleaning fee are charged on arrival. The deposit is refundable at the end of your stay, provided that your linen is in an acceptable condition when you return it, that you return all keys, and that there is no damage in your room.

University Hall - Tower & Apartments

University Hall is centrally located off Symonds Street, with easy access to public transport and Auckland’s motorways.

It’s within walking distance to Queen Street, cafes, Vector Arena, the ASB Tennis Centre and Auckland Domain.

The tower complex consists of 429 single rooms spread over 13 levels providing modern facilities and dining options, whereas the apartments, which are adjacent to the tower, offer you a self-catered option in four and five bedroom apartments.

Rooms

  • The Tower
    • Each single room contains a king-sized single bed, desk/chair, wardrobe/shelving, opening window/roller blind and internet.
    • Four unisex bathrooms on each level offer lockable showers and toilets. Each floor provides a small study area; and a common lounge, complete with small kitchenette (including fridge, microwave and electric kettle).
    • Wi-Fi is available in the common areas throughout the Hall Tower.
  • The Apartments
    • Each apartment includes four or five bedrooms, (depending on the apartment type) common living/dining area with television; a full kitchen and bathroom. The rooms are lockable and consist of a single bed and internet connectivity via an Ethernet cable (not supplied)
    • All rooms and apartments are non-smoking and the hall is smoke-free.

Catering

  • The Tower
    • Room rates are available for bed & continental breakfast option OR dinner, bed and breakfast.
    • Other meal plans are available subject to demand or by arrangement.
  • The Apartments
    • University Hall Apartments are self-catered, with fully equipped kitchens.

Facilities

  • The Tower
    • University Hall and Apartments reception is on the ground floor of the hall at the main entrance. During summer, reception will be open from 8.00 am-8pm. Duty staff are available 24/7. 
    • The large dining room on the ground floor opens onto a deck with outdoor tables. 
    • Sky TV is available on the big screen within the dining room along with a sound system. The lounge on level one opens onto a large deck and has Sky TV. 
    • The adjacent Games Room offers foosball, air hockey, pool table, PlayStation, Wii and Freeview TV.
    • The Wi-Fi study area has printing facilities available.
    • Wi-Fi is available in all common areas of the hall. Guest passwords are available from reception.
    • Laundry is located on the basement level at no additional cost. (Washing powder is not supplied, but can be purchased at a convenience store or reception).
  • The Apartments
    • University Hall apartments also have laundry and lounge facilities, along with a garden barbecue/basketball area.
    • Vending machines (confectionary/personal care) are available throughout both facilities.

Parking

  • Limited on-site parking is available for an additional daily/weekly charge and must be pre-booked. Long-term summer parking can be arranged.

UniLodge

UniLodge is located on Anzac Ave with a covered walkway joining to the Beach Road building, only a short walk away from the University of Auckland General Library.

Students staying at UniLodge over summer are also close to the city centre where you can go shopping, visit the theatre and galleries, or just relax and enjoy a coffee.

UniLodge Auckland is also on the city's main bus route, which makes travel around Auckland very easy.

  • Students can live in single studio or one-bedroom apartments, or share with other students in two, three and four bedroom apartments.
  • The apartments are fully furnished and self-contained.
  • Each apartment operates with full security access.
  • You are required to bring your own linen and pillow.
  • A duvet is provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.
  • Summer room rate
    • Single Room: $215 per week
    • (in a shared 3/4 bedroom apartment)
    • Studio - Anzac: $265 per week
    • Studio - Beach: $275 per week
    • Deluxe Studio: $280 per week
    • Twinshare: $210 per week (per bed)
    • One Bedroom apartment: $365 per week
    • Two Bedroom apartment: $475 per week

Catering

  • The studio apartments include a small kitchenette with microwave, and you can use the large communal kitchen to cook your meals.
  • The deluxe studio, one, two, three and four bedroom apartments have kitchenette complete with cooking hobs.
  • A basic kitchen pack is provided in all apartments.
  • There are barbecue facilities for communal use.

Facilities

  • Recreation facilities include a lap pool, sun deck, barbecue area, common kitchen, games room, theatre and gymnasium.
  • Our professional, friendly, multi-lingual residential staff are onsite.
  • There is a user-pay laundry room.
  • Each room has broadband internet access, you need to bring your own Ethernet cable.

  • Limited parking is available at an additional cost.

You can book UniLodge if you are a New Zealand or international student staying in Auckland for study, work or holiday purposes.
