Budgie Meal of the week
The 'Budgie Meal' has recently been reintroduced to campus. It's a concept that was first used at the University of Auckland in the early 1990s, offering staff and students on a budget the opportunity to purchase a substantial meal from an array of cuisines across campus.
The majority of our retailers now have a Budgie Meal available on their menus. The meals are $6.50 or under and consist of protein, vegetables and carbohydrate.
Keep an eye out for the Budgie icon at your favourite retailers. A 'Budgie Meal of the week' will be announced on the What's On Facebook page each Monday.
Healthy vending arrives on City Campus
The Grab Goodness machine is a result of Campus Life staff working closely with nutritionists and registered dietitians to find healthier alternatives to snacks on campus.
Every product has a Health Star Rating of 3.5 or greater. The star system encourages people to make healthier choices: the more stars, the better the nutrition profile.
Products include popcorn, Bluebird thins, bliss balls, smooch balls, cranberry mix, raw nuts, steak bars, Fresh & Fruity pouches, cheese and crackers, Homegrown pouches, coconut water, Charlie's fruit smoothies, and more.
The Grab Goodness machine is easily spotted with its green branding, and operates by card transactions only.
Find it now in the Quad!
