Medical and Health Sciences Student Symphony Orchestra (MHSSSO)
The Medical and Health Sciences Student Symphony Orchestra was established in 2009 to encourage passionate musicians to continue with their music while completing another, often demanding, degree. We started off as students only from the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences but have since expanded to encompass students from all faculties at the University of Auckland. Our mission is to maintain the passion for music for our musicians in a supportive social orchestra whilst supporting venerable causes with our annual Charity Concert. We are non-profitable and all money raised is donated to charity; we have to date donated over $5000 to various health foundations including the Heart Foundation, Starship Children’s Health, Diabetes NZ and Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand.
