Cheerleading Association

The University of Auckland Cheerleading Association is a student run organisation, committed to showcasing the sport of cheerleading as it embodies athleticism and performance, and incorporates elements of stunting, gymnastics, and dance.

As a club we aim to invite people of all levels, skills and abilities, to participate and build on their current abilities. We current have two teams, Phoenix Ignition and Phoenix Wildfire, so we can cater to individuals with extensive cheerleading experience just as well as those engaging with the sport for the first time.

Phoenix Wildfire is a more competitive team performing at high levels at competitions based on their skills. The team is open to individuals who have extensive cheerleading, dance and tumble experience as well as those willing to gain the required skills. Just like any other cheerleading gym, trainings will comprise of tumble and stunt learning and conditioning, along with learning routines. These, later on, will be performed at competitions and other events.

Phoenix Ignition is made up of people that would like to learn new skills, but are not inclined to or ready to compete at higher levels of the sport. The focus of the team will be for individuals in the team gain new skills, expand on their knowledge, and build on their confidence as well as encourage the social aspect of Cheerleading.

We host several social events throughout each year, as part of promoting our club and the University. These events include performances, open days and fundraising events, both on- and off-campus.
