Course Design Catalyst
This blended programme provides individuals or course teams with an opportunity to plan and design modules, courses or programmes.
The Course Design Catalyst responds to the new University Graduate Profile, Assessment Policy and Procedures, Student Retention Strategy and the new limit of three lectures per week per course. It will be tailored to the objectives of the participants and can take place at CLeaR, or in the faculty for dedicated cohorts.
The programme comprises three components:
- Initial consultation and goal setting.
Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI), which will be followed by a conversation to confirm the objectives of the course design and negotiate a suitable timeframe.
- Design labs (four half-day workshops)
Essentials of course design: curriculum, constructive alignment and delivery (face-to-face, online, blended; synchronous, asynchronous).
Documenting and evaluating course designs.
Assessment design: University assessment policies and procedures; types and purpose of assessment and feedback.
Student engagement: University retention policy; active learning strategies and tools
- Evaluation or SoTL research plan.
This process will inform reflection on the outcomes and subsequent iterations of the course, along with sharing the experience with colleagues.
