Top tips to be prepared for disruption

We understand that being a new student can be overwhelming. Throw Covid-19 into the mix and it can become the perfect storm. As the country responds to the COVID-19 Protection Framework, we’ll be here to help you in case of any disruption.

Follow our top tips to ensure that you know what to expect from the University in the case of disruption by Covid-19 changes:

  • Important updates are communicated by email from the Student Service Centre and will be sent to your preferred email address. Make sure you don’t miss them by checking your email regularly.
  • If you’re not an email person, all updates will also be promptly posted on social media. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook where we update our community as more information becomes available.
  • Make sure you have downloaded the Kāhu app on your phone AND enable the push notifications to ensure you receive the alerts. In the event of an emergency, the University will contact all students through the Emergency Alert Service.
  • CANVAS will be where you will receive communication from your lecturers and other important updates about your coursework. They will let you know how the University-wide changes affect specific classes or deadlines.
  • Overall, the University has a comprehensive plan to transition through the Government’s settings smoothly should there be a change in the COVID-19 Protection Framework. You can stay up to date on how the University is working through the traffic light system by keeping tabs on the Covid-19 information for our community webpage.
  • Through the ups and downs, remember to use our Health and Wellbeing resources to help care for your physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
