Kia ora, Kia orana, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Malo e lelei, Talofa lava, Bula vinaka and warm Pacific greetings.

Scholarships

The University of Auckland offers guaranteed postgraduate scholarships to domestic students who meet grade point average thresholds from their qualifying programme.

Tuākana Contestable Fund

The Tuākana Contestable Fund supports the University's Māori and Pacific postgraduate students or potential postgraduate students who:

  • Have been selected to present academic research papers at a national or international conference, wānanga, symposium, fono or another related event; and have the support of their academic supervisor
  • Would like to attend their first conference, wānanga, symposium, fono or other related event and will not be presenting papers (considered on a case-by-case basis)
  • Are potential postgraduate students in their final year of undergraduate study who wish to attend and/or present at conferences (considered on a case-by-case basis)

Priority will be given to first-time applicants of the Fund.

To ensure all students can access this Fund, there is a limit of two students from each faculty attending the same conference.

Postgraduate Hui-Fonotaga

The Equity Office – Te Ara Tautika hosts regular hui-fonotaga for postgraduate Māori and Pacific students across the faculties. These events are an opportunity to hear from other students and academics about their research journeys, strengthen your networks across the University, and find out more about funding opportunities such as the Tuākana Contestable Fund.

Refreshments are usually provided.
