Other ways to build your brand and support students’ work-readiness
Looking for other ways to engage outside of your standard recruitment activity? CDES hosts a range of events, outside of our expo schedule.
Employer-led skills sessions
Our 60 minute workshops support students from all faculties to develop their employability skills. During the session, content focusses on encouraging students to learn more about themselves, what they have to offer and how to prepare for life after university.
It's also an opportunity to tell students more about the world of work, offer advice that you wish you had known and support them on their career journey. If this sounds of interest, we would love to hear from you!
Employer-led ‘career chats’ or Q&A sessions
Our 30 minute career chats / Q&A sessions were developed as a bite-sized alternative to our 60 minute workshops. Help answer students’ burning career and employability questions in an informal and relaxed setting.
Each of our career chats focus on different topics, including:
- Interview skills (face to face, video, informal coffee chats, assessment centres)
- Networking skills (engaging face to face and online)
- Workplace etiquette 101 (dos and don’ts for when you start working)
- Linked In, CV and cover letters
Speak at our career events
Our career events are designed to support student career development and educate them about the world of work. These events can be both faculty specific and generic – attracting students from across the University.
We are always on the lookout for speakers at various stages of their careers, who can speak on specific topics and share their experiences and insights, plus we are always on the hunt for alumni. If you would like to speak at a future event – get in touch or keep an eye out for an email invitation from us, in the not-too-distant future!
'Spotlight On' industry events
We’re keen to facilitate future events that give students the chance to learn about other industries. Having previously worked with the likes of the NZ Food and Grocery council, IPENZ Transportation group and the Communications Council NZ (CAANZ) on a number of events and initiatives we can work with you to promote your industry to our students. Please get in touch with us to chat through your ideas for 2021.
Employer daily drop-in session
Be part of our daily one hour drop-in sessions, designed to answer students quick questions about applications, general career advice and employability. Plus, give live feedback on their CV's and cover letters.
If you’re interviewing University of Auckland students and/or visiting from out of town, why not hold your interviews on campus?
We have a number of spaces available for hire, which can accommodate various interview and assessment formats.
Please contact Kate Coley, Employer Engagement Manager on email@example.com or 09 923 9433 to discuss any of the above options, or to find out more.
