Jobs 101: A beginner’s job search series for international students

If you are an international student starting to look for part-time or full-time work, this series will help you with your job search in New Zealand.

Jobs 101 is a four-part career series that will build your understanding of the NZ job market and increase your confidence to start your job search. Through attending these workshops, you will:

  • Get advice on how to write a CV for New Zealand employers
  • Be given support with your job search and how to overcome challenges
  • Learn about New Zealand’s workplace culture
  • Meet former international students who are now working in NZ

Workshop One: How to write an NZ-style CV (via Zoom)

Every country has its own specific style of CV, and guess what? New Zealand is no different. This session will give you tips on making your CV New Zealand style and how to promote your 'cultural capital' in your application.

Workshop Two: Finding work opportunities in NZ (via Zoom)

Moving to a new country and finding work is exciting, but it can also be a challenging experience. This session will explore different job search strategies and how you can overcome the common challenges that international students face. You will also find out how to effectively market yourself and connect with NZ employers!

Workshop Three: Understanding the NZ workplace to ensure your job search success! (via Zoom)

It is important to understand how New Zealand employers operate and communicate to help improve your chances of finding work. Through attending this introductory workshop, you will build your awareness of how to effectively navigate the New Zealand workplace and what employers expect to see on your applications.

Workshop Four: Former international students provide their top tips to help you land your first job in NZ (alumni panel via Zoom)

Come and hear from former the University of Auckland, international students, who are now working in NZ. They will share their inspiring career journeys and how they secured their current graduate or internship role. Plus, they will provide advice on how you can do the same and secure a job of your own!
