Offshore insurance waivers

Information about insurance waiver for full-fee paying international students studying offshore in semester or quarter programmes.

Insurance is compulsory as it is a condition of enrolment for all international students. However, if you were studying offshore in Summser School 2023, you can have your insurance waived, i.e. your insurance fees will be removed and your insurance policy will be cancelled.

Please note that this does not apply to any PhD students or international students studying onshore.

Returning students:

If you are a returning student and request the offshore insurance waiver please note that there would be no continuous cover on your policy when you return to study in New Zealand, i.e. any medical condition you have been receiving treatment and insurance cover for, under your original policy, would be considered a pre-existing condition on your return and may not be covered in the future, as would any medical condition that you may develop while you are not covered under the Studentsafe policy.

The Allianz Care Mental Wellbeing app

If you opt for the offshore insurance waiver please note that you would not be able to use the Coaching service within the Allianz Care Mental Wellbeing app.

Submit the insurance waiver

The deadline to submit your Summer School 2023 offshore insurance waiver is Friday 31 March 2023 (New Zealand Time).

It may take up to four weeks from submission date for the waiver to be processed due to the high volume of applications we are likely to receive. Once the application has been processed, the insurance charge will be dropped and credited to your university fees account.
