Tanima Mahadevan comes from India and is pursuing her Master of Information Technology.
“I did my bachelors in Computer Science, after which I worked for more than two years in the IT industry. I realised that the structure of the Master of Information Technology is perfect for me to improve my knowledge in the field and enhance my career prospects."
The International Student Scholarship has helped me accomplish my dream of doing my masters degree at the University of Auckland. It was a great relief financially and also, for me personally, it was a proud moment to be a scholarship recipient at a university with a global reputation.
“I love the weather, the calm and quiet atmosphere, and the nature here in Auckland, and it is a pleasure to study at a university like this. The academic staff are highly qualified and extensively read. I feel privileged to attend lectures and have the opportunity to work alongside such eminent personalities. The library is well equipped and I find the online library really helpful as it gives me access to almost all databases and journals.
“I joined AUSA – the Auckland University Students’ Association – which is a warm, welcoming club that organises lots of engaging student events. It helped me meet people from different corners of the world and I also had the chance to perform an Indian classical dance as a part of Cultural Week.
“The structure of my masters degree is designed in such a way that it helps me prepare for working in industry. There is a compulsory internship at the end of the programme that helps me gain relevant New Zealand experience, which is amazing.
“I highly recommend all international students apply for this scholarship. The tuition fee reduction allowed me to accept the offer from the University without worrying about finances. It will also help boost your profile when you attain a scholarship from this University for your academic merits and achievements.”
