The University of Auckland China Learning Centre at Northeast Forestry University (NEFU) will enable our students who cannot travel to New Zealand due to the Covid-19 crisis, to have an on-campus experience while continuing your studies online.

You will be supported by a learning coordinator during your studies at NEFU, and academics from the University of Auckland will deliver online content for your programme.

About Northeast Forestry University

Northeast Forestry University was founded in 1952 and is situated in Harbin, at the centre of the largest state-owned forest region in China. Presently, there are more than 23,000 students studying at NEFU and 130,000 students have graduated since its founding.

NEFU is a valued partner of the University of Auckland and together the institutions founded a joint college – Aulin College – in 2019. NEFU places great importance on developing international exchange and cooperation, and has established relationships with over 100 universities and research institutes in more than thirty countries.

NEFU has also educated a number of excellent international students as one of the admission universities for international students sponsored by the Chinese Government Scholarship. Its alumni have made great contributions to Chinese forestry development, ecological civilization construction, economic and social development.

Since the start of the Chinese Eleventh Five-Year Plan for the National Economic and Social Development in 2006, NEFU has won more than 780 awards at all levels for scientific research achievements. It has excellent national level facilities for teaching, research and practical training.

About Harbin

Known as China’s Ice City, Harbin is a popular winter destination famous for its annual Ice and Snow Festival, ice sculptures and exotic architecture. An urban metropolis, it is also rich in natural wonders and history.

The Harbin Siberian Tiger Park houses almost a thousand tigers and is a popular tourist attraction north of Sun Island Park.

While studying at NEFU, students can visit Harbin’s old town, experiencing the Russian influence on its food and buildings, or have a picnic alongside the Songhua River. NEFU campus is located centrally with easy access to the city via convenient public transport links.

University of Auckland students at the China Learning Centre

Students at the University of Auckland China Learning Centre will have access to a range of great services on the NEFU campus including libraries, sports, and other recreational and health facilities. They will have access to on-campus housing or accommodation nearby.

New students coming to NEFU to join the University of Auckland China Learning Centre will be provided with financial support of up to NZ$1000 to relocate and to cover accommodation costs.
