Carter Huang
Carter started his Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Auckland China Learning Centre based at Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NJUST) during the 2020 global pandemic crisis. He shares his formative experiences with us.

“The main reason I chose to study at a University of Auckland China Learning Centre was so I could have a better learning atmosphere and access to study resources beyond online courses. For me this has been an unprecedented learning experience.
“Although we overseas students were unable to enter New Zealand to start our first year due to Covid-19, the University of Auckland did its best to provide us with the opportunity to study in China. Here, we can meet with our classmates, share learning experiences offline, and live together on the same campus.
“What I enjoy most is the learning environment. There is a lot of intelligent equipment to facilitate our lives, a library for us to study by ourselves, and the cost of living here is far lower than that in more urban areas.”

“Most of what we learn comes from lecture recordings, so online classes rely heavily on students' self-discipline. We also have a weekly tutorial, where the lecturer answers our questions via Zoom. The teaching staff from both NJUST and the University of Auckland are very friendly and are more than happy to respond.
“I’m enrolled in a Bachelor of Commerce focusing on entrepreneurship and innovation because I hope to start my own business in the future. This line of study can help me acquire skills and make extensive contacts.
“For now, my career goal is to become a businessman. The knowledge and experience I gain in my studies will be the cornerstone of my future development.
“If the New Zealand border does not open next year, I will still choose to continue studying at the University of Auckland China Learning Centre. I highly recommend that international students in China study at the China Learning Centre at NJUST, where life is more exciting than I expected and I am creating unforgettable memories.”
