Launch your career
In collaboration with some of New Zealand's leading organisations, the University of Auckland is providing international students with the opportunity to develop your employability skills by participating in a virtual microinternship.
This provides both onshore and offshore students the opportunity to work on real business challenges with the support of interactive learning content and dedicated mentor feedback.
The microinternship will provide an opportunity for you to:
- Gain real world industry experience with leading New Zealand organisations
- Develop your employability skills, confidence and connections
- Bring your global perspective and skills to New Zealand businesses
- Develop and grow, from wherever you are in the world
Some previous microinternship employers include: Auckland Council, KPMG, the University of Auckland and Nxtstep.
The internship is fully funded by the University of Auckland for successful candidates and you are welcome to complete the internship from wherever you are in the world. All you need is yourself, your device, and a stable internet connection.
What is a virtual microinternship?
A virtual microinternship is a three-week programme with around 10-15 hours of work per week, designed to accelerate your professional growth.
You'll be working in a team of five students from the University of Auckland to tackle a business challenge for an Auckland-based employer. Each team will be provided with a dedicated mentor, to coach and support you throughout the programme.
The programme includes an online induction and briefing session to get to know your team and the project you will be working on together.
Everything can be accessed virtually through our online platform where you can connect with your team, access and submit documents, as well as receive feedback from your mentor. At the end you will get the opportunity to present your findings.
