A Scholarship for New Zealand citizens and permanent residents who are enrolled full-time in postgraduate or undergraduate study majoring in English.

The Scholarships are provided from a fund bequeathed in 1971 under the will of the late Miss Lucy Phillips. The Scholarships fund is administered by Perpetual Guardian hereinafter called “the Trustee”.The main purpose of the Scholarships is to assist students of English to further their studies in this subject.
