Prize Value Criteria
A L Titchener Prize $950 The Prize will be awarded annually for the most distinguished academic performance in the Final Year Research Project in Chemical Engineering for the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree in Chemical and Materials Engineering.
Auckland Bioengineering Institute Prize in Biomedical Engineering $300 The Prize will be awarded annually for the most meritorious Research Project in Part IV of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Biomedical Engineering programme.
Aurecon Prize in Construction Management $500 per Team The Prize will be awarded annually to the best team in the Construction Management Aurecon Tender Project in CIVIL 791, Construction Management.
Cecil M Segedin Prize $300 The Prize will be awarded each year for the most meritorious Research Project in Part IV of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Engineering Science programme.
CIGRE New Zealand National Committee Prize $500 per Team The Prize will awarded annually to fourth year students who are specialising in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering or Software Engineering and who obtain the highest grade in the power systems team project report in ELECTENG 700B on a topic of particular relevance to the New Zealand electricity supply industry.
ESR Prize Book and ESR Membership The Prize will be awarded each year to the student who attains the highest overall mark in the course ENGGEN 403.
Harrison Grierson Prize for Technological Advances in the Water Industry $1200 In making its recommendation the selection committee will take into account the following factors: (a) (i) the project on ‘Technological Advances in the Water Industry’ that best demonstrates appreciation and application of the science, or (ii) the best performance in the Part IV elective Water and Wastewater Engineering, (ENVENG 740), or (iii) the best performance in the Part III course Environmental Engineering Design, (ENVENG 342A), or (iv) the work of any other student recommended to the selection committee; (b) previous academic performance of the recommended student; (c) associated achievements of the student.
Hawkins Construction Limited Construction Management Prize $1000 The Prize will be awarded annually to a suitable candidate who is a full-time student achieving the best grades in CIVIL 791.
Hiway Stabilizers Prize in Pavement Engineering $1000 The Prize will be awarded annually to the top Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) student in the Civil 360 Transportation Engineering I course (or its equivalent successor course).
IET Prize $500 The Prize will be awarded annually to the student obtaining the highest GPA across all courses undertaken in Part III of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) programme.
IPENZ Transportation Group Prize $500 The Prize will be awarded annually to the full-time student achieving the highest mark in Civil 361.
IRHACE Undergraduate Prize Varies The Prize will be presented annually to the undergraduate student from the Department of Mechanical Engineering or the School of Architecture who offers an investigation report or design which best demonstrates competence in refrigeration, heating and air conditioning and ventilation.
James Gordon Goodfellow Memorial Prize $1500 The Prize will be awarded annually for the most distinguished academic performance throughout the entire engineering programme from among those qualifying for admission to the degree of Bachelor of Engineering.
Ken McIntosh Timberlam Prize $500 The Prize will be awarded annually to the full-time student achieving the highest overall mark in CIVIL 750.
Nigel Christianson Memorial Prize $1000 The Prize shall be awarded annually for meritorious project work in the design courses in electrical and electronic, computer systems and/or software engineering programmes in Part III of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) programme.
New Zealand Aluminium Smelters Masters Prize in Engineering $1000 One Prize will be awarded annually to a full-time student at the University of Auckland who has distinguished himself/herself in his/her ME thesis in the field of Materials and Materials Processing research.
New Zealand Aluminium Smelters Undergraduate Prizes in Engineering $500 Two Prizes will be awarded annually to suitable full-time candidates: one to the student achieving the best result in course CHEMMAT 315 and the other to the student achieving the best result in course ELECTENG 704.
New Zealand Automobile Association Prize in Transportation Engineering $500 and a Certificate The Prize will be awarded annually to the student who produces the most outstanding work in course CIVIL 759 in Part IV of the Civil Engineering programme for the Degree of Bachelor of Engineering.
New Zealand Concrete Society Concrete Prizes $4,000 plus travel and accommodation expenses to attend the next year's annual Concrete Conference  Four Prizes will be awarded each year to students at New Zealand tertiary education institutes who have completed the most outstanding work in courses concerned with the design and/or use of concrete.The Prizes will be awarded on the basis of results for Part III or Part IV of the Civil Engineering and Resource Engineering programmes for the Degree of Bachelor or Engineering (Honours) and Part I of the Degree of Master of Architecture (Professional).
Pattle Delamore Partners’ Award in Environmental Engineering $2000 An Award will be made annually on the basis of academic achievement in ENVENG 333 and potential in the field of Engineering Hydrology.
Phillip Graham Crabbe Memorial Prize $350 The Prize will be awarded annually for the most meritorious project work in Chemical Engineering in the Fourth Examination of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) programme.
R S Components Prizes $500 RS Components Voucher Prizes will be awarded annually, one each to the two students attaining the highest results in the Project course of the Part IV year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) programmes in Electrical and Computer Engineering and in Mechanical Engineering.
SCNZ Structural Steel Prize $1000 The Prize will be awarded annually to the full-time student achieving the highest mark in the structural steel design assignments for CIVIL 713.
The New Zealand Society on Large Dams (NZSOLD) Prize $500 plus Book The Prize will be awarded annually to the full-time student achieving the highest mark in CIVIL 782, Water Resources Engineering.
Tonkin & Taylor Prize in Geomechanics $1500 The Prize will be awarded to the fourth-year undergraduate student taking the Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering Degree programmes at the University of Auckland judged to have the best overall performance in the courses Geomechanics I, Geomechanics II, Foundation Engineering or Slope Stability, and Geomechanics III or Excavation Engineering Design.
TDG Prize in Traffic Engineering $1000 The Prize will be awarded annually to the student who produces the most outstanding work in the Traffic Systems Design course CIVIL 758 of the Bachelor of Engineering.
William Jebson Memorial Award Membership The Award will be made annually or as often as funds permit, to the graduate who in the final year of the programme has obtained the greatest distinction in the two courses MECHENG 700 and MECHENG 731, and who will by tenure of the Award further its object.
