Using image texture analysis for measuring bulk food powder properties

Food powders have a range of different important functional properties, including bulk density, flowabilty, cohesion and various rehydration characteristics. These are all measured using a variety of different tests that require either specialised equipment or are labour intensive. This project will investigate whether these properties can be inferred from the powder texture using image analysis and machine learning, implemented using Matlab. Pre-existing Matlab knowledge or knowledge of image processing is not required.
