Inter-arts collaboration, decolonising the imaginary
Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries
Project code: CAI003
How might practice-led research in the performing arts develop specific processes that articulate creative resilience and environmental sustainability, moving beyond the forces of Western global modernity and colonized subjectivity? In what ways do artists, working across different languages and cultural contexts, collaborate effectively to generate new forms of assembly and ways of becoming together?
This research project is part of an ongoing creative enquiry into the potential of performance to build sustainable futures. It relates to Sur Sur / South South a collaboration between New Zealand and Chilean dancers, visual artists and indigenous singers. Research would involve embodied scholarship, documentation and writing before, during and after a research residency of Chilean artists at the Gus Fisher Gallery in July 2018.
