Introducing your Career Champions!
At CDES, it’s our job to support you as you navigate the world of work, so come and introduce yourself!
Here at Career Development and Employability Services, it’s our job to support students from the University of Auckland just like you, as you navigate the world of work. We also assist graduates up to three years after graduation.
Our career development consultants are a passionate bunch, with a range of experience and knowledge between us - even a few awards thrown into the mix! And we share a common goal of assisting you with your employability. We have helped thousands of students just like you. We are here to help answer your career questions and offer opportunities for you to upskill, and find your foothold in the first stage of your career!
Create your future
Our vision is to help graduates develop the capabilities to successfully self-manage and navigate their world of work, life and learning. We want to enable you to discover your employability as you start to realise your potential, become a positive contributor to your community, and begin creating a future you want!
What’s your question?
I don’t have any work experience, so what can I do? What do employers look for in a job application? What’s your question? Whatever might be on your mind, we’re here to help. Rest assured, we have an array of support options for you and are ready to chat with you!
A taste of what’s coming up
The CDES team will be working hard over summer, and we’re here for you. There are plenty of ways to connect with us: online, in-person, and through our various practical career workshops.
CDES runs recruitment events and career expos, where you can talk to employers about working in their fields. These are a great opportunity to practice your networking skills and explore your options. We have relationships with hundreds of employers that offer internships, job shadowing and work placements. Check out our website for all this plus other useful job resources.
Without the help of CDES, I would not have received some of the jobs and scholarships I applied for, so I am very grateful for it.
Seize the moment! Upskill yourself
The summer break is the perfect time to upskill and prepare for the recruitment process. CDES is running a range of career workshops designed to help students grow in their career planning, interviewing skills and networking, as well as many other aspects of employability.
Do you have a quick career-related question, or want to get a last final check on your CV or cover letter? Then come along to our daily drop-in service: stop by for a ten minute career chat with one of our consultants.
