Programme overview
A BProp/LLB(Hons) conjoint allows you to complete a BProp and the LLB(Hons) in less time, and with fewer points, than it would take to complete the two degrees separately.
Our graduates are armed with a skill set that meets the high demands of any legal career. We offer opportunities to gain knowledge of the law and its implications, analytical and research skills, social appreciation, a sense of public responsibility and communication skills.
In your first year of a BProp you will complete core business courses, which will become the building blocks for your degree.
The second and third years comprise more specialised Property courses, including Valuation, Finance and Investment, Economics, Land Use Planning and Controls, Marketing, Management, and Building Construction.

Programme structure
The BProp/LLB(Hons) takes 5.5 years (11 semesters) if you are studying full-time. You will need to complete 735 points, including:
- 255 points from BProp courses
- 465 points from LLB/LLB(Hons) courses
- 15 points from General Education
In your first year you will need to complete three Stage I core LLB/LLB(Hons) courses, and five Stage I courses from the BProp. You will continue to take a mix of Law courses and Property courses in each of your second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth years. You will also need to include a General Education course in one of these years.
You will need to enrol in a total of 615 points in your second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth years if you want to complete in 5.5 years (11 semesters). This is a higher load than the standard enrolment of 120 points a year. Alternatively you could enrol in 120 points in 5 years and 135 points in one year to complete in six years (12 semesters). You need to maintain a Grade Point Average of 3.5 each year to continue with your conjoint.
To complement your Property skills and knowledge, you will have the choice of a wide range of Law elective courses, including Corporate and Commercial, Public, Criminal, International, Family, and Environmental Law.
Most students need to take one or two General Education courses.
Students should also be aware of the University’s Academic English Language Requirement.

Entry is by invitation for high-achieving Bachelor of Property / Bachelor of Laws (BProp/LLB) Part II students.
To be considered for the Honours programme in Law, you must achieve a B+ average or higher across all your law courses at the completion of LLB Part II during your BProp/LLB. (This is usually at the end of your third year.)

- See if you meet the criteria for the Undergraduate Targeted Admission Scheme (UTAS).
- Bridge your educational gap with a preparation and foundation programme.
- If you are under 20, have no formal University Entrance (UE) qualification, and are a New Zealand or Australian citizen or permanent resident you can apply for discretionary entrance.
- If you can demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and maturity, we offer admission to applicants under 16.
Overseas qualifications

Fees are set in advance of each calendar year and will be updated on this website. Fees are inclusive of 15% GST, but do not include the Student Services Fee, course books, travel and health insurance, or living costs. Amounts shown are indicative only. In addition to the tuition fees, there is a Student Services Fee of $8.38 per point, estimated at $1,131.30 for full-time study (135 points). Fees will be confirmed upon completion of enrolment into courses.

Where could this programme take you?
BProp/LLB(Hons) conjoint graduates are well-positioned for a wide range of careers in property and law. An honours degree from the University of Auckland Law School is well-respected. In addition to the transferable skills and knowledge gained from the LLB programme, honours graduates will have demonstrated advanced research and writing skills. This will increase their suitability for a range of research and policy jobs. The conjoint BProp/LLB degree offers a sound background for work as a specialist legal adviser or as a manager within the property industry. In addition to the legal skills and knowledge gained from the LLB degree, students graduate with understanding of property valuation, investment, management and marketing.

Becoming a barrister and solicitor
After completing the LLB or LLB(Hons) degree, if you wish to be admitted as a barrister and solicitor, you must complete a three-month Professional Legal Studies course. There are currently two providers of this course:
