Key facts

Programme: Bachelor of Global Studies
Majors: Global Environment and Sustainable Development

“I decided to undertake a Bachelor of Global Studies because I have always been interested in learning more about how the world of today has come about and how challenges are both connected and unique in different parts of the world.

“I enjoy the diversity Global Studies offers – from the people, to the courses offered. As someone who enjoys learning a wide range of topics, Global Studies allowed me the opportunity to explore different disciplines and to specialise in a particular topic of interest by the final semester of my degree.

I believe we are living in a time of unprecedented change with many challenges. Significant 21st century environmental challenges call for 21st century solutions. I hope that I can go out and make a positive difference in the world.

“I like the wide range of topics offered in the Global Studies programme. I can choose courses ranging from Environmental Science to Urban Planning with all of them contributing to my degree.

“I chose my major because there are so many ways in which society interacts with the environment on a day-to-day basis. Opportunities come with challenges – climate change, traffic congestion, resource consumption, the poverty gap and land grabbing, to name a few.

“Global Studies offers the opportunity to find out who you want to be and how you want to make your difference in the world. Be ready to stand up for what you believe in. Challenge the status quo and be ready to challenge your own world views.

“Create your own framework for tackling global challenges. Be bold and take the first step - I can say that I am really glad I did!”
