Description

This course introduces the structure of Cook Islands Māori as well as allowing students to develop basic skills in listening, speaking,  reading and writing.

Designed for students with little or no knowledge of the language, and for those with some fluency wishing to understand simple sentence structure and composition.

Note: The course may not be taken if a more advanced language acquisition course in this subject has previously been passed.

Learning Outcomes

Successful completion of COOKIS 101G will equip students to be able
to read and understand basic Cook Islands Māori and be able to compose
simple passages in Cook Islands Māori. Students will also have been
exposed to general language learning skills which they could apply to
other language learning situations.

Enrolment

All students must complete a Language Ability Declaration before enrolling in a language course. The course may not be taken if a more advanced language acquisition course in this subject has previously been passed.
