Russian is an important language of culture and science. Russian writers, composers and filmmakers have enriched world culture, and science has been advanced by the achievements of Russian physicists, chemists and mathematicians.

You can study Russian language from beginners' level. At more advanced levels there are opportunities to develop your language skills through study abroad in Russia. You can study it as an elective course in the BA, or as a subject for the Diploma in Languages or Certificate in Languages.

What you will learn

You will study beginners and intermediate Russian, along with completing an Eastern European Interdisciplinary Essay on a historical, political or cultural issue with a focus on Eastern Europe. There is also the opportunity for formal Russian language study at an approved Russian academic institution.
