Classes are available to those who have a Recreation Centre membership with over 30 classes weekly.

How to book:
- To attend a group fitness class, you must book in using our 'UoA fitness' app. Download for Android or Apple now.
- Create an account using your University credentials.
- Select the class you would like to attend and book in.
- Please cancel your booking if you can no longer attend so someone else can have your spot.
Tips before attending a class:
- Classes are for Recreation Centre members only.
- Ensure you bring a towel. No towel = no workout.
- Check-in on the iPad as you enter a class.
- Bring a water bottle with you. There are water fountains near each studio if you need.
- Please wipe all equipment after you have used it.

Types of classes available
Whether you're looking for strength, cardio, mind and body training, low impact or high intensity, we have a class for you. All our instructors bring their own knowledge and style, making each class a unique experience.
Barre
This hybrid class combines ballet inspired movements with elements of Pilates, yoga, dance and strength training. Improve strength, posture, flexibility using a variety of props. Footwear; socks.
Core
This class focuses on strengthening abs, glutes, and back to minimised injury risk, and make everyday activities easier. You will work your core from various angles to the beat of the music. This is a low impact class.
Stretch
A mobility based class to help you lengthen and stretch the entire body through a range of techniques and combinations. A great way to relieve stress, tension and also rejuvenate through the use of bands and foam rollers.
Pilates
This class will help you to improve your breathing, postural alignment, increase strength and core control. You will gain body awareness, feel taller, relaxed and centred after sessions.
Yoga
An ancient art for the body, mind and spirit making the body strong and flexible, while improving overall wellbeing. Prepare to work hard and work up a sweat. We offer a variety of yoga practices such as vinyasa flow and ashtanga. Keep an eye out for the different styles on our timetable. Great for all participants of various levels.
Yoga Nidra
A guided deep level relaxation where you let go of three layers of tension in your body – physical, emotional and mental. The class is spent lying down, supported in savasana (corps pose), and following the voice that is guiding you. Please bring a blanket or something warm to wear.
Breathwork
A simple guided breath session, covering a range of techniques such as nose breathing techniques with controlled tempo counts to de-stress, relax and feel calm.
Total Body
This class is a fun and energetic conditioning class with cardio peaks to get fitter faster and stronger. Build strength, increase mobility and feel the burn with a variety of movements for a whole body workout to the beat of the music.
Pump
This resistance training class uses free weights, barbells and dumbbells for muscular strength, endurance and tone. Ideal for participants needing to add resistance training into their fitness regime with easy to follow movements to the beat of the music covering all the major muscle groups.
HIIT
This high intensity interval training class will get the heart rate up to speed up your metabolism to get you fitter faster. A mix of bodyweight and equipment exercises in a fun and energetic environment.
Spin
This indoor cycling class gives you an effective workout that allows you to track your progress with our integrated Coach by Colour system. This class is great for cardiovascular fitness, and leg strength, all with no impact.
Zumba
A Latin inspired workout using international dance rhythms and dance styles such as Salsa, Merengue, Hip Hop and Reggaeton. It's a party class where having fun is the main focus and the results are reduced body fat, improved fitness and a release of fun filled endorphins. Find out more about Zumba® fitness.
Dance Fit
This is a dance fitness class which offers a range of styles and combinations of cardio, conditioning, choreography and flexibility, maybe even a push up or two if you’re lucky. This high energy class is a great mix of fun and fitness so you don’t even realise you are exercising.
