Sherry Du - Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies
Originally from China, Sherry says she is proud to have called Aotearoa home for the past six years. Having completed her studies she has now started a full-time career as a Kaiako.
Sherry's decision to delve into Early Childhood Education and become a Kaiako stems from her deep passion for working alongside children and finding immense joy in engaging in fun and playful interactions while guiding their development and learning.
Exploring Aotearoa's education history and witnessing the shifts in educators' philosophical views has been a rewarding aspect of my studies, enriching my own teaching philosophy.
"Throughout my study in this programme, I've gained confidence and proficiency in building professional relationships with fellow Kaiako, tamariki, and whanau. The programme's well-designed curriculum and practicum not only prepared us for our roles as future Kaiako but also shaped us into educators and leaders.
"My experiences during the practicums included working in various ECE services across Tāmaki Makaurau. These experiences exposed me to working with tamariki and whanau from diverse cultural backgrounds, each with unique needs and aspirations.
As I embark on my career journey, I am excited to expand my experiences and knowledge in this field, enjoying the smiles and laughter of my tamariki along the way."
