Postgraduate study in Educational Leadership
What can you study in Educational Leadership?
You can complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership or a Master of in Educational Leadership in areas such as:

- Early years pedagogy and ECE curriculum issues
- Education and empowerment
- Educational change
- Educational law
- Educational leadership in the electronic age
- Educational policy and organisations

- Researching Māori education
- Undertaking research for school improvement
At the masters level, students pursue research, working closely with University researchers in this field, in an area of their choice that links to Educational Leadership.
What is the difference between the Master of Educational Leadership (University of Auckland Online) and the Master of Educational Leadership (City Campus)?
Master of Educational Leadership (University of Auckland Online)
This is a 180 point taught programme that is only available part-time and is delivered 100% online. It entails students completing a set list of 6 core courses which are taught one at a time over a two year period. It is primarily aimed at those only able to study part-time due to full-time work or other commitments.

Master of Educational Leadership (City Campus)
This programme has four different options and can be completed full-time or part-time:
- 120 point Master of Educational Leadership (Taught)
- 120 point Master of Educational Leadership (Research)*
- 120 point Master of Educational Leadership (Taught)
- 180 point Master of Educational Leadership (Research)*
*You are also able to complete these programmes at our City Campus in Auckland or online.
These programmes do entail some core courses, however if you choose to enrol into one of the taught options you will have greater freedom to choose which courses you wish to do from the following list: Postgraduate Course Finder.
Regardless of what programme you choose to do, once you have been accepted into the programme we will work with you to ensure all courses you select or enrol into meet your programme requirements.

*Please note that you are only able to complete a research programme online if you are able to find a supervisor willing to supervise you completely online.
