Wireless network

The University provides a wireless computer network based on the 802.11 standard, which allows any suitably equipped device (eg, a laptop or PDA with a wireless network adapter) to connect to the University network and use resources such as internet access, CECIL, and Library resources.

Wireless network coverage

To make use of the wireless network, you need to use an 802.11 standards wireless device and must be in range of a wireless access point. Please note that your computer, PDA, or devices must be equipped with a wireless network adapter. You should consult your computer's manual to see if it has this functionality. Only some recent PDAs have the ability to work on a wireless network.

Maps
The maps below show the wireless coverage across our four campuses. Hold your mouse over the building numbers to see which floors have wireless access.

Wireless access for conference guests

Are you organising a conference and want your guests to have wireless internet access for the duration of the conference?

You need to contact the IT Service Desk at least a week in advance to arrange the required number of temporary login accounts. These accounts allow your guests to connect to the wireless network using the same login option as the University's staff and students.

You'll be responsible for distributing the temporary usernames and passwords to your delegates. The passwords will be set to expire at the end of the conference, disabling the access.
