Wireless network
The University provides a wireless computer network based on the 802.11 standard, which allows any suitably equipped device (eg, a laptop or PDA with a wireless network adapter) to connect to the University network and use resources such as internet access, CECIL, and Library resources.
Default speed
The default connection speed of The University of Auckland wireless network is 256kb/s.
Cost
There is no charge for using the network or accessing the internet, but you may need to log in with your NetID and password to access certain services.

Eduroam

To find out more, see Eduroam.
To make use of the wireless network, you need to use an 802.11 standards wireless device and must be in range of a wireless access point. Please note that your computer, PDA, or devices must be equipped with a wireless network adapter. You should consult your computer's manual to see if it has this functionality. Only some recent PDAs have the ability to work on a wireless network.
Maps
The maps below show the wireless coverage across our four campuses. Hold your mouse over the building numbers to see which floors have wireless access.
You must read and agree to The University of Auckland ICT Acceptable Use Policy, in particular to section 3.3 which covers connecting devices to the network. Read the policy on the Information Security Management website.
Download this file if your device is unable to automatically load the required security certificate for the UoA-WiFi network.
Symbian OS
Some older Nokia devices running Symbian operating system are unable to connect to “UoA-WiFi” due to authentication issues. Please connect to “UoA-Guest-WiFi” instead.
