Pacific student support
Pacific students can access a variety of support services, both in the University as a whole and in the faculties.
The Fale Pasifika complex houses the Centre for Pacific Studies, and is the ‘home base’ for Pacific students at The University of Auckland. The Fale complex is a centre of excellence for Pacific research, teaching and service, and its traditional Pacific Fale provides a space for discussion and support as well as teaching and learning. Even if you're not studying a Pacific Island language or taking one of our other courses, you're always welcome to drop by.
`O lagi Atea Moana is a place where Pacific students can meet, talk, have lunch and hang out. It's also the home of the Auckland University Students' Association's Pacific Islands Student Officer.
`O lagi Atea Moana is located on the 4th floor of the Students' Association building (just off the Quad), and has places to sit, shower facilities, a kitchenette and toilet. It's worth a visit, so if you need any help, call in.
The Tuākana programme supports Māori and Pacific students through academic tutoring and mentoring, providing students with a contact network to help them achieve academically and thrive in the university environment.
Many Pacific parents study at The University of Auckland. This work is made easier by our on-campus Kohanga Reo, Hineteiwaiwa which is located behind the Waipapa Marae on Alten Road. If you'd like to find out more about this service for you and your children, contact Rangi Laskey at Hineteiwaiwa.
