Zac Lam - Bachelor of Education (Teaching)
Working with children in his gap year ignited Zac's passion for teaching and working in children's education.
“After I finished high school, I took a gap year and moved to England where I worked teaching disabled children. This experience really gave me a passion for teaching and working in children’s education. I decided when I came back to enrol in the Bachelor of Education (Teaching) programme and begin working towards my teaching qualification to help me turn my passions into a rewarding career.
“What I really enjoyed about studying this programme is how diverse the courses are. The courses really provide you with a lot of knowledge across various aspects of education and teaching and studying at the Epsom campus is great as you are in the same area as all the other teaching students to discuss ideas and assignments.
The teachers on practicum give you the most beneficial advice that really supports your learning and development.
“The practical placements that you do throughout the programme are also really great. The teachers on practicum give you the most beneficial advice that really supports your learning and development. Down the line I am excited to work toward becoming a principal or a senior teacher at a low decile school in New Zealand.
“I would recommend the Bachelor of Education (Teaching) programme to everyone who is interested in education and teaching. There is a desperate need for more teachers in New Zealand so that we can give future generations the best possible education to set them up for success.”
