Parking

While driving can be a convenient way of getting around Auckland, parking in the central city is expensive and often difficult to find. This page covers some of your parking options.

Park and Ride services

If you are coming from the suburbs beyond the inner city, you can use a Park and Ride service. Park and Ride services allow you to drive to the station or terminal, leave your car, and enjoy a hassle-free ride into the central city.

For information on Park and Ride services and public transport options around Auckland, visit the MAXX website.

For information on bus services run by the University and links to public transport websites, see Transport in Auckland.

On-street parking

On-street parking in the central city usually operates on a ‘Pay and Display’ basis. When you park, you must buy a ticket from a roadside machine and display it on the dashboard of your car.

On Princes Street, you can pay for parking meters by mobile phone text, credit card, as well as the usual coinage. Parking times are strictly enforced by parking wardens, so check the maximum allowed time and move your car before your ticket expires.

Student car parking at the City Campus

The University’s main car park on the City Campus is located under the Owen G Glenn Building, which has five levels of car parking. You can access the car park from the traffic lights on Grafton Road, opposite the on-ramp to the ports at the Stanley Street end of the Business School.

Mobility-impaired parking

There are a limited number of spaces on campus for people with CCS mobility cards and people recovering from surgery or injury.
