Adam Clearwater receives the iPad from Student Engagement Manager Marie-Jo Wilson.

Science student gets amongst it and wins

Congratulations to first-year Science student Adam Clearwater, the winner of the iPad competition.

He says, “At such a large University, a lot of events happen without you hearing too much about them. It’s great to have the Adventure website available for us to see what’s coming up. And the mailing list is awesome too, it gets everyone talking about the events, and going along.”

Adam is in his first year studying Science, majoring in Maths and Physics. The Christchurch student came to Auckland to start his degree as he believes Auckland is “the best uni in New Zealand.” Adam is frequently asked if he moved here because of the earthquakes, but for him it was an academic choice.

Past event: Engineering Revue 2012: The Ion King

The Revue is a performance put on by Faculty of Engineering students that includes skits, dances and songs designed to take you on a journey filled with song, dance, comedy, drama and tragedy.

This year’s plot was based on the Lion King. In the Ion King, Sam Imbalance has just received a scholarship for a PhD at The University of Auckland and looks like he's being groomed to be the next Head of Department. Professor Mustafa does his best to guide Sam, but trouble begins to brew as an ambitious and jealous Professor Scab sets his eyes on the positions of Head of Department and will seek to achieve it any cost.

Filled with skits that are highly topical and not always politically correct, the Engineering Revue will leave you with a smile on your face.

Dates: 26-28 April
Venue: Maidment Theatre
