Applying for admission and enrolling

The University of Auckland has an online system for admission and enrolment. Application for admission is separate from the enrolment process. Your first step is to apply for admission to the University. Once you are offered a place, you will be able to enrol in courses online.

The University of Auckland accepts applications from Manukau Institute Technology (MIT) students who wish to further their study at the University. Admission to the University is based on your most recent academic record, application details and interview results (if necessary).

Before you apply, make sure you take note of:

Applying for admission
  • To apply go to Student Services Online.
  • When applying we will ask you to provide information about your academic history. The information will help determine whether or not you meet the entry requirements for a specific programme.
  • If you hold or have partially completed a tertiary qualification, you have to list all qualifications during the application process. You must provide a certified copy of your official academic transcripts with subjects undertaken and results.
  • Some programmes also require you to complete a supplementary application form in addition to your Application for Admission to the University. Please contact the relevant faculty for more information.
  • All applicants must provide verified evidence of their legal name, date of birth, and citizenship (eg, passport, birth certificate).
  • Shortly after you’ve submitted your application form, you will receive an acknowledgement email advising you of what to do next.
  • If your application is successful, an “offer of place in a programme” will be sent to you.

Applying with a partially completed qualification

  • If you are eligible for Academic Credit for MIT courses you have to indicate this when applying.
  • To receive credit for your study at MIT you will have to provide an official academic transcript of your study at MIT with subjects undertaken and results.
  • If seeking credit for previous study there is a non-refundable application fee of NZ$75.

Certificate in Tertiary Degree Studies

Completing the MIT Certificate in Tertiary Degree Studies may assist students from MIT who wish to apply to a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Theology (BTheol) programme and who are eligible for university entrance but do not reach the approved entry scores. Successful completion of the certificate would be taken as evidence of academic capacity and support an offer of place. The University requires a B– average in this certificate.

Enrolment

Enrol in courses via Student Services Online system using your login and password (login details will be emailed to you once your application is successful). It is recommended you discuss which courses to enrol in with a student adviser. Once you start a programme you will often need to enrol continuously.

Limitations to enrolment

The University can limit the number of students that may be enrolled for any programme or course due to unavailability of academic staff, lack of resources or other reasons. Places are normally allocated on a first-come-first-served basis but requirement of a relevant average grade may also apply.

If you need clarification regarding the enrolment process, you should contact staff in the Student Centre of the relevant faculty.
