US Direct Loan Eligibility

Certain minimum criteria must be met before you can be eligible for a US Direct Loan.

To be eligible for a Direct Loan you must meet the following minimum criteria:

• Be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen.
• Must not be in default on any Direct Loans or grants.
• Be enrolled in an eligible programme* at The University of Auckland.
• Be enrolled half-time or more in the eligible programme.
• You must meet satisfactory academic progress.
• Have not exceeded the annual or aggregate loan limits.

*Note: Online, nursing, graduate and postgraduate diplomas are not eligible for Aid. Masters and PhD students must not be completing research based in the United States.
