Avishkar Srivastava
Qualification: BCom (Marketing and Innovation & Entrepreneurship)
Current Role: Chief Innovation Officer at The PDP Group®
Attending a University of Auckland alumni event in New Delhi, Avishkar Srivastava was inspired by the energy and warmth in the room. “It reminded me of the wonderful times spent at UoA.”
Coming from Kolkata, India, to study in New Zealand as an International student, Avishkar was understandably anxious. However, his reservations were short lived “I made such great friends at the Huia Hall of Residence – I am still in touch with some of them after 12 years!”
Avishkar admits he didn’t really have a plan for after completing his B. Com in Marketing and Innovation & Entrepreneurship. “I honestly hadn’t thought that far ahead about what I would do after graduating.” He is happy with his decision to return to Kolkata to work in the family logistics business.
His role as Chief Innovation Officer is focused on finding ways to enhance productivity, especially in the operations, HR and IT verticals. The company, The PDP Group, is one of the fastest growing logistics companies in eastern India. “It feels great to implement my learnings from University in my family business and see it grow.”
Outside of work Avishkar is a huge fan of the Liverpool Football Club keenly following their games. He has also been brushing up on his Spanish to satisfy his interest in languages.
Despite an already busy life he is excited to be a UoA Volunteer Alumni Coordinator and can’t wait to connect with his fellow India-based alumni. “We spend a considerable period of time studying at university and that has a huge impact on our lives. Staying connected to the University and other alumni can open new opportunities.”
