Restore native forest in the eastern Christchurch red zone
Help Avon-Ōtākaro Forest Park transform the Avon River Red Zone into a vibrant, city-to-sea indigenous forest park along the Avon-Ōtākaro River.

One such group is Avon-Ōtākaro Forest Park, a local group passionate about native plant regeneration in Canterbury. In particular, their vision is for the creation of a forest and wetland park in the former Residential Red Zone. They hold working bees twice a month, where volunteers plant native seedlings, and mulch, release and water around existing plants to encourage native plant regeneration growth and regeneration. Join them to get some fresh air, exercise and time in nature, while making a difference to the local environment!
