Soundtrack to your studies - 1979
Campus sounds from the seventies.

In 1979, Bob Marley played his legendary show at Western Springs. He and his band stayed not far from the university at the White Heron Hotel in Parnell, where he was interviewed for television and visited the nearby rose gardens for a game of soccer.
One of the most popular local groups at the time was Citizen Band. Their concert at the Auckland Town Hall had the crowd jumping around so enthusiastically that the Mayor complained afterward that the floor was at risk of being damaged. This led to a new rule that audiences had to be seated at any future rock concerts at the Town Hall. However when Cheap Trick played later that year (with Citizen Band as support), the crowd couldn’t be stopped from getting up to dance and the council was forced to back down.
The biggest local hit of the year was the groovy pop of ‘Jezebel’ by Jon Stevens and he followed this No.1 with a second chart-topper ‘Montego Bay.’ The most popular international album of the year was Supertramp’s Breakfast in America.
