Soundtrack to your studies - 1999
Campus sounds from the nineties.

The 1999 Orientation was free for students and took place across the city. There were events in the Quad, Shadows, the Uni Cafe, and the Rec Centre on campus, but students could also catch Shihad at the Powerstation or attend a run of dance parties held at Ministry on Albert Street.

King Kapisi played a midday show in the Quad, but his career was beginning to take off. His stunning underwater video for ‘Sub-cranium Feeling’ had provided a breakthrough and his next single ‘Reverse Resistance’ would become the first hip hop track to win a Silver Scroll. Though King Kapisi's single with the longest life was the remarkable ‘Screams From The Old Plantation.’
The 1999 Big Day Out was headlined by Korn, Marilyn Manson, Hole, and Ash. This was also a year when dance music was showing its true popularity with the 'Supertop' tent given over entirely to the 'Boiler Room with Fat Boy Slim' as the headliner. It was a hot, sweaty place to be but that didn't put off the hugely enthusiastic dance crowd.
