The Award was established by the Department of Geography in memory of Steve Britton who was a Lecturer (and later Senior Lecturer) in the Department from 1979 until his death in 1991.

The Award commemorates Steve’s work in the geography of development in the South Pacific and is intended to provide financial support for research into this or related geographical fields by masters students.
