Fraser Alexander

Development Manager - Gift Planning

In addition to the many rewarding and stimulating experiences in fundraising practice since 1997, I have been fortunate enough to be involved with a large number of assignments in providing voluntary mentoring, in conducting postgraduate research, in writing and in public speaking.

Specialising in philanthropic support through gifts in wills since 2008, my role focuses on ensuring the University of Auckland respects the intentions and preferences of our many generous and aspirational legacy donors. My role has responsibility for designing, facilitating and implementing a legacy giving programme that incorporates individual intentions and preferences  regardless of whether the legacy gift is being considered, has been confirmed or realised. Our programme includes a number of processes and protocols in gift recognition and gift acknowledgement, in defining gift designation, in tailoring privacy and publicity appropriately and in delivering relevant impact reports.

I feel privileged to meet and work with inspirational people whose honourable intentions will create for ourselves, our children and our communities exciting, new and as-yet unimagined futures through generating new knowledge and academic achievement.

My time away from work is often occupied with sporting observations, aerobic exercise, reading non-fiction and travelling.
