Vision Bus Aotearoa

Since February 2022 Vision Bus Aotearoa has been providing mobile eye care to people in the Auckland region, thanks to generous philanthropic support. The bus travels to scheduled locations, providing funded eye examinations and spectacles directly to people in the community.

A mobile eye care service would not be complete without the ability to provide spectacles for those patients who need them.  For children we screen at school and identify with eye problems, the most common finding is refractive error, which is treated with spectacles. Further philanthropic support  allows Vision Bus Aotearoa to run a Community Spectacle Subsidy Scheme and our partnership with Essilor (a world leader in prescription lenses) allows us to provide spectacles to our patients. With this support, we can offer an integrated service that includes both eye examinations and follow-up care, without our patients needing to make additional in-person clinic visits.

Your support will allow us to help more schoolkids see the whiteboard better or the ball on the sportsfield, and to deliver better eye healthcare to all New Zealanders, regardless of their background.
