CLeaR Fellowship recipient 2018 – Dr Rachelle Singleton

Congratulations to Dr Rachelle Singleton who is our faculty's 2019 CLeaR Fellowship recipient.

Dr Rachelle Singleton is a Professional teaching Fellow in the School of Medical Sciences and the proud recipient of the 2019 CLeaR Fellowship.

The theme of this year’s fellowship is ‘A new canvas for teaching and learning’. Rachelle will use this opportunity to develop pedagogically informed learning resources for her pathology teaching using H5P which enables users to create richer HTML5 content in existing publishing platforms.

A variety of activities can be developed within H5P to replace existing written lab material; interactive multimedia with guest speakers, case study scenarios, interactive technical demonstrations, 360° virtual lab tours, interactive diagrams with clickable hotspots, drag and drop activities; and templated note-taking study guides.

This software will not only ensure the pathology content she teaches is more engaging during in-class activities but will make it more accessible to students outside the classroom.

As a secondary outcome of the fellowship Rachelle plans to develop H5P as a plugin for Canvas which she believes will extend its affordances far beyond its current capabilities as a LMS.

We wish Rachelle all the very best with her fellowship and we look forward to hearing the outcomes of her project.
