Student tests positive for Covid-19

The University of Auckland has been advised by one of its students that they have tested positive for Covid-19.

A University of Auckland student who has tested positive to Covid-19 is linked to the Auckland cluster. The student has not been on campus since the end of July and is not living in student accommodation, so the University is confident the risk of exposure to other students and staff is minimal.

The Ministry of Health is managing the case, and the University is making sure the student is well supported.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dawn Freshwater said the University had detailed contingency plans in place to respond to different situations that may arise as a result of Covid-19.

“Safety of our students and staff is of paramount importance and we will be closely following the guidance of the Ministries of Health and Education," she said.

University staff and students have been informed of the confirmed case.
