Union action by academic staff
Friday 11 November
We have received notice that Tertiary Education Union (TEU) members under coverage of the University of Auckland Academic Staff Collective Agreement will be holding union action from 7pm Monday 14 November until 7pm Friday 18 November 2022.
For this period, the TEU is encouraging academic staff who are TEU members to withhold entering and releasing student marks into student management systems.
While the University acknowledges that our academic staff who are union members are entitled to take part in this action, it is disappointing that it is happening at a time when our students are completing their exams and approaching the end of the academic year.
Many staff are working hard to minimise disruption to students. We also know that our academic staff are committed to the success of our students and will not want to disadvantage them at such an important time in the academic year.
As course marking is only one part of an academic staff member’s responsibilities, the University is not withholding pay or suspending staff for this four-day period.
Supporting student success remains our priority and the University will continue with business-as-usual to minimise the impact on students.
