Wireless firewall replacement this Friday

Internet access via University Wi-Fi will be unavailable from 6pm this Friday 17 November, for up to an hour.

All wireless connectivity that relies on an internet connection will be unavailable during this period. This will include cloud-provided services such as

  • Canvas
  • Office 365
  • Student email
  • Library services 

Note: These services are only impacted if you try to access them via the wireless network on campus.

The University is replacing the wireless firewalls that protect our internal systems when connecting via the wireless network. These digital sentinels serve as our frontline security defences, ensuring our systems are kept safe from unwanted or potentially harmful internet traffic.

We strongly recommend that any data processing activities that rely on an external internet connection via the wireless network are deferred or rescheduled to another time.
