LGBT+ Christian Alliance

The University of Auckland LGBT+ Christian Alliance was first started in 2018 in response to a need for a safe space to explore the intersection between LGBT+ and Christian identities.

Due to the historical tensions between these two communities, LGBT+ identifying Christians often struggle to find acceptance in either community being 'too LGBT+' to fully fit in with Christian communities and 'too Christian' to fully fit in with LGBT+ communities.

The LGBTCA aims to change this and create a community where LGBT+ Christians can explore and celebrate their faith, gender identity, and sexuality as well as the intersections between them, and connect with others like them so that they can walk together and support one another on their journeys.

We run social events such as potluck dinners and movie outings, faith-based events such as bible studies and worship and, education events such as documentary screenings and educational talk. We have something for everyone, no matter where they are on their journey.

Membership is open to all regardless of sexuality, gender identity or religious affiliation so feel free to come along and check us out!
