What is the Research Showcase?

The Research Showcase, brought to you by the School of Graduate Studies (SGS), is an annual competition and celebration of doctoral research.

It is open to all currently enrolled doctoral candidates at the University of Auckland, and every entry is displayed as part of the three-day exhibition.

It's a great opportunity for you to:

  • broaden the impact of your research and get it noticed
  • enhance your research communication skills
  • extend your personal and professional networks
  • refine the art of poster design
  • express your creativity
  • build your CV by having work published on Figshare

Enter the Research Showcase

Entries for the next Research Showcase will open in July 2026 and the Showcase will take place towards the end of the year.

Academic Poster Category

To enter, create a poster that communicates your research to a general audience. Top entries from the Science and FMHS poster competitions are automatically be entered into the Research Showcase.

Research Image Category

To enter, create an image (photo, painting, drawing, etc.) that has strong visual impact and communicates your research to a general audience. The sub-categories are Own Creation and AI-Generated Image.

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded for the winner, runner-up and people's choice in each category, with spot prizes for creative design, research impact statement, engaging interactive session, and outstanding entry by a provisional candidate.
