Student business initiatives

The University and its individual faculties run a number of student-focused business initiatives to foster an entrepreneurial culture within the University, the most well-known being Velocity.

Velocity

Velocity is the University of Auckland entrepreneurship programme. It unleashed potential, giving momentum to people, innovation and ideas. The inspirational and exciting programme of talks, workshops, events and challenges draws on the knowledge and experience of hundreds of people throughout the business community and entrepreneurial ecosystem, who volunteer their time as speakers, judges, mentors and supporters. Velocity is run by a student committee, funded through sponsorship and supported by the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Chiasma

Chiasma is the link between students and the STEM industry, fostering a new generation of innovative, business-savvy and professionally developed scientists. In 2004 Chiasma was founded by three PhD students from the University of Auckland; now nationwide Chiasma boasts over 3500 students and industry members. Chiasma welcomes all students to get involved in the awesome selection of workshops, mentorship, site visits and complement their degree with networking and professional development.

University of Auckland Case Club (UACC)

University of Auckland Case Club (previously known as Management Consulting Club) is one of the largest clubs on campus with over 700 paid members. Each year, UACC organises dozens of competitions and events that give students an opportunity to learn about business and apply their skills in a practical setting. UACC also acts as a selection trial for the Business School case competition squads.

The Case Programme

The Case Programme develops students into global leaders, taking them around the world on business case competitions. Our Case Programme is one the highest performing in the world, with a success rate of over 50% at national, Trans-Tasman, and international competitions.
