Your personal safety is paramount, if you feel at risk or in danger - Call the Police (111)
If faced with a violent or aggressive person
- Keep calm and ensure your safety. Identify a safe exit route
- Ensure your safety and distance yourself from the exposed danger
- Remove yourself and others from immediate danger if it is safe to do so
- Call the Police (111)
- If able, call Security: Use the UoA Alert app or call 0800 373 7550
- Only attempt to de-escalate the situation if appropriate and safe to do so
- Record a mental description of the aggressor(s)
- If the aggressor leaves the scene note direction of travel or vehicle used
Duress Alarms: If your area has a duress alarm, activate this to summon help . It is better to activate the alarm and then find you have the situation under control than to wait and see how the situation develops
